Big Teal

I was contacted to make a 7ft bot for Pam’s living room. Pam, wanted the bot to be teal, purple, and to be made out of reclaimed parts. After giving Pam a few ideas for bot parts, we agreed on a bot made from an old metal filing box; the body is an old toolbox; the feet are roasting pans; and the arms, legs, and neck are made from black pipe. The hands are a combination of electrical and black pipe conduit and boxes. A few extras were added after painting like the pressure gauge to the chest and speaker covers to the head. All the parts were then painted and given a weathered look. The feet have weight in them to keep the bot, safely upright. Altogether the bot stands around 7ft.

Elephant In The Backyard

This big bot, named Opal, was made with the goal of turning an old oil drum into something a little more playful. After considering a few different animal options, an elephant was chosen. The oil drum was cut into three sections to give Opal’s body the ability to sit. The space in between is covered with fabric. To give Opal a colorful contrast between rusty metal and new smooth fabric. Opal’s head is made from an old wheel barrel. The ears are movable, in the wind, with their fabric and copper pipe constitution. Opal stands at 12ft tall in the garden.

Display Bot

This bot was made for myself, as a display bot, for when I do art festivals and other events. The bot draws the attention of people walking by. The bot does a great job of holding signs for me, along with proving photo opts for children. The bot’s body is made from an old bowling ball bag; the head is made out of an antique suitcase; and the feet are made from roasting pans. The arms, legs, and neck are made from black pipe. The hands are made from a combination of electrical and black pipe conduit. This bot stands around 5ft. The bot is, also made with travel in mind. The arms, legs, and head can be taken off, so the bot fits nicely into my car.
